At the Library

In the children's section, a boy is looking for Curious George.
He's got a brand new card!
From his mother, the checkout girl takes a book about Olduvai Gorge.
She presses the light pen too hard:
It's just her first day in the main reading room.

CHORUS:  At the library on Sunday afternoon
We all join together and hum this tune.

In the reference room, a man turns pale and then closes his book.
In a trance, he returns it to the shelf.
"Pardon me ma'am. Do you have the latest from Miriam Cooke?"
"You'll have to look it up yourself.
I've got a line here, and we'll be closing soon."

CHORUS

In  the back room works a man who couldn't know how good he looks.
Such things are learned from the wider world.
As he leaves, he meets a girl who waits for him, weighted with books.
Her eyes are bright, her hair is curled.
As she says, "Can you help me with these?"
Her body is in first bloom

CHORUS
